    Field Survey Technician

    Summary

    The field survey technician will work with the party chief to perform construction staking, topographic surveys, monument search, and general daily field duties, as assigned.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Work with party chief to perform daily assigned tasks.
    • Communicate effectively with clients and other staff members.
    • Ensure survey instrumentation and field equipment is operated properly, maintained in good working condition and that routine maintenance is performed.
    • Practice health and safety awareness and self-protection at all times.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Requirements/Minimum Qualifications

    Job Related Skills:

    • Able to keep accurate and concise field notes under the direction of the party chief.
    • Proficiency operating surveying equipment.
    • Fully proficient oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage one's own time effectively.
    • Excellent customer service, team interactions, coordination, and communication skills.
    • Developing proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites (Outlook, Word, Excel).
    • Proficiency with data collectors, total stations and digital levels.
    • Must possess valid Driver's License.

    Accountability

    • Conducts routine to complex surveys with the party chief under broad parameters developed with senior survey staff.
    • Follows established procedures within scope of assignments and scope of contracts.
    • Accountable for technical performance on projects and for successful completion of assigned project tasks.

    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

    This work is done in the field at project sites. 

    Field Conditions:

    • Basic work shift will consist of 8 – 10 hour days with the likelihood of extended hours, and/or weekend work depending on project deliverables.
    • Ability to move, lift, pull, and push 30 - 50 lbs.
    • Outside exposure to all weather elements, extreme temperatures and hostile vegetation may be required.
    • Ability to last an 8 – 10 hour shift, enduring prolonged physical activity involving standing, climbing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pulling, and swinging.
    • Out of town work and travel may be required for this position from time to time.
