    Project Surveyor

    AKS Engineering & Forestry is seeking a permanent, full-time Project Surveyor for our Tualatin, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington offices.

    Ideal Candidate:

    • Oregon and/or Washington PLS license
    • 5+ years’ relevant experience
    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Surveying
    • Proficient in Auto CAD/Civil 3D/LDD
    • Familiar with local codes and agency standards
    • Extensive experience resolving boundary lines and creating Records of Survey.
    • Good written and oral communication skills, including letter and report writing.
    • Able to work quickly, manage multiple and conflicting deadlines, and establish priorities
    • Apply working knowledge of the laws and regulations pertaining to land surveying in Oregon and Washington, including county ordinances.
    • Extensive experience resolving boundary lines and creating Records of Survey.
    • Good written and oral communication skills, including letter and report writing
    • Takes personal responsibility for completing quality work within budgets and timelines

    Position Responsibilities:  This is a full-time position reporting to the Survey Manager and working with AKS survey crews, office survey technicians, project engineers, and project managers. 

    • Perform field survey work, and plan, organize, coordinate, and review the work of survey crews
    • Operate survey equipment, including theodolite, levels, electronic measuring devices, and other equipment to measure distances, horizontal angles, and elevations.
    • Inspect work to ensure that it is conducted according to instructions and is in conformance with accepted land surveying standards
    • Maintain accurate, orderly, and legible field notes of survey work performed, including lines, angles, distances, benchmarks, and mathematical calculations
    • Operate a computer and peripheral equipment to compile survey notes and create drawings, as required
    • Sign and stamp subdivision maps, Record of Survey maps, lot line adjustments, ALTA surveys, and legal descriptions to attest to their technical correctness
    • Promote safety in the field
    • Interpret, evaluate, and prepare legal descriptions of real property.
    • Perform AutoCAD/Civil3D drafting, including setting up sheets, importing points, line work/drafting, Record of Survey drafting, boundary line resolution, subdivision plat preparation, etc.
    • Complete projects and special assignments, as requested.
    • Provide expertise in various land surveying technical skills, including ALTA/ACSM surveys, platting, land development, ROW surveys, preliminary design surveys, topo surveys, construction staking, deed research, survey map research, and good organizational skills.
    • Do what needs to be done.
