PLSO Scholarships

The scholarship fund of the Professional Land Surveyors of Oregon was created and continues to grow through generous contributions from land surveyors and surveying related business throughout the state of Oregon. The goal of the Professional Land Surveyors of Oregon (PLSO) Scholarship Fund is to promote land surveying education in the State of Oregon and to assist students pursuing a career in land surveying to attain their goals. This fund is administered through the assistance of the Oregon Student Assistance Commission under the State and Federal guidelines for financial aid. All applications are evaluated and awards are determined by the PLSO Scholarship Committee.

Applications are due by March 1 of each year and awards are made by August 1. Applications for this and other scholarships are available through the Oregon Student Assistance Commission website http://www.osac.state.or.us/ . The Professional Land Surveyors of Oregon Scholarships are found under the listing “Land Surveyors”. Interested individuals must meet the following criteria:

Requirements

  • Students enrolled in a curriculum leading to land-surveying careers, including community college applicants who intend to transfer to eligible 4-year schools or will complete a degree in land surveying at the community college level
  • Applicants must intend to take the Fundamentals of Land Surveying (FLS) exam
  • Additional essay: Briefly describe what led you to pursue a land surveying career and what surveying means to you
  • Dependents of PLSO members pursuing a career other than land surveying may compete separately for a one-time award of $500 and must (1) submit the additional essay: What led you to pursue a career outside of the field of land surveying? and (2) list PLSO member and relationship
  • All Applicants must submit names, addresses and phone numbers of 2 references
  • Oregon colleges only; out-of-state residents enrolled at Oregon colleges may apply
  • Maximum award based on year in school
  • Apply-compete annually
