We are a growing company seeking a licensed Professional Land Surveyor to join our team and head up our layout division.
Position Overview:
As a Professional Land Surveyor at Brown Contracting, Inc., you will oversee and lead the layout division, working on a variety of public works and open space projects, including ADA ramps, light civil concrete, and excavation operations. This role will involve approximately 60% office work and 40% field work throughout the state of Oregon, with a primary focus on the Northern Willamette Valley.
You will initially lead a small team (2-3 people), providing training, support, and oversight while working closely with local municipalities, agencies like ODOT, and other stakeholders on public infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead layout division for a variety of public works projects across Oregon, primarily in the Northern Willamette Valley.
- Perform field surveying duties, including setting up layout points and conducting measurements.
- Oversee the development of site plans for civil projects, including ADA ramps and infrastructure for local municipalities and ODOT.
- Provide leadership and training for a small survey team, ensuring quality and accuracy of field and office work.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other contractors to ensure project milestones are met.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations in all surveying practices.
Qualifications:
- Must be a licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in Oregon.
- Trimble Total Station experience is a plus but not required.
- Experience with AutoCAD is also a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to train and manage a small team.
- Knowledge of public works, ADA compliance, and civil construction projects is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and manage a range of surveying tasks in both office and field settings.
- Ability to travel throughout the state, with the majority of work focused in the Northern Willamette Valley.
