    Survey Technician - Klamath Falls or Lakeview, OR

    SHN has provided land surveying services for over 40 years, and we are adapting new technologies to improve efficiency while maintaining industry standards for accuracy.  In a quickly evolving profession, SHN land surveyors, drone pilots, and information technology staff are creating new workflows of mapping, data collection, measurement, and visualization using drones and supporting data management systems. 

    SHN is ready to grow our Survey departments in Klamath and Lake counties.  The next person to join our team could be someone with no experience or someone who has a Land Survey Intern (LSI) Certificate or the ability to obtain the Land Survey Intern (LSI) Certificate.

    Compensation & Benefits:

    • Wage range is approximately $25.00-$49.00/hour depending on experience, 40 hours/week anticipated

    What are SHN’s minimum qualifications?

    • Possession of a high school diploma or a general equivalency diploma (GED)
    • Able to obtain Land Survey Intern (LSI) Certificate
    • U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
    • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving clearance

    What additional knowledge and experience would make me a great candidate?

    • Currently have your Land Surveyor Intern (LSI) Certificate
    • Associates degree or bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying
    • Experience in land surveying in field and office capacity

    What kind of work is expected?

    Survey Technicians work year-round outside and in most weather conditions. They setup and operate GPS equipment, robotic total stations, levels and other equipment used for surveying projects. They measure, record, and calculate data based on readings from those instruments.  They work indoors and outdoors, both independently and on a team. They understand and act consistently with the values and culture of SHN. Core duties include:

    • Perform public records research
    • Assist with AutoCAD drafting
    • Draft letters and other communications
    • Perform survey calculations, process UAV data and process GPS data
    • Conduct fieldwork for various surveys including topographic, boundary, construction, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and LiDAR scanning surveys
    • Assist with equipment maintenance and supply inventory
