About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Field Survey Lead (Crew Chief) to join our small, close-knit team.
Our projects are primarily located in Lane County and surrounding counties, with occasional work elsewhere in Oregon. This is a field position leading a two-person survey crew. Occasionally, this position will require independent field work.

Responsibilities
- Lead field survey operations efficiently and safely while maintaining high productivity
- Operate and maintain Leica survey equipment (total stations, GPS/GNSS, data collectors)
- Read and interpret maps, plats, deeds, and other legal documents related to land boundaries
- Apply sound understanding of boundary principles, field survey procedures, field data collection, and error analysis
- Check all field work for accuracy and completeness
- Problem-solve independently in the field and adapt quickly to changing conditions
- Adopt and apply company field standards and procedures
- Collaborate professionally and respectfully with your crew partner, office staff, and the public
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 3–5 years of field survey experience, including demonstrated experience in a lead or crew chief role
- Proficiency with Leica survey equipment strongly preferred; experience with comparable modern equipment will be considered
- Solid working knowledge of land boundary principles
- Ability to read and interpret legal descriptions, surveys, and other property documents
- Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail
- Formal education or certification in surveying or geomatics preferred, such as:
- Associate’s Degree in a surveying-related field
- Bachelor’s Degree in a surveying-related field
- Survey Technician certification
- Equivalent field experience will also be considered
- Professional demeanor with clear, dependable communication skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Physical ability to work outdoors in varied terrain and weather conditions throughout the region
